Cuisle Poetry Festival Now On

Ed O'Dwyer at his reading for CuisleFans of poetry will be busy the next few days in Limerick as the Cuisle International Poetry Festival kicks off once again. The first event was a lunch-time reading (complete with lunch) at the Hunt Museum, by Limerick poet Ed O'Dwyer. He has had poems published widely and was selected for the Poetry Ireland Introductions series this year. I believe "up and coming" is the phrase used!

I know Ed as a pleasant person and studious poet, first meeting him through his help in organising the White House poetry readings. In fact he booked me in as guest reader in that venue, some time back. The Captain's Room at the Hunt Museum, full of paintings and sculpture, made a fitting setting. I had him pose with some of the fittings for the fun shot above.

The official launch of Cuisle is tonight at 7pm in Daghdha Space, John's Square. over the next few days expect poetry from Rita Ann Higgins (brilliant and acerbic), Chris Agee (editor of Irish Pages), Veronika Dintinjana (multiple award winner from Slovenia), Máire Áine Nic Gearailt (in Irish) and others. Check out the website for full details.
