If you are at all interested in experimental and improvised music, you want to be in Cork this Sunday 19 May at 3pm. Specifically, get to University College Cork at the beautiful Glucksman Gallery for a concert involving many of the participants in the sixth Sonic Vigil. These include The Quiet Club, Katie O'Looney, John Godfrey, Harry Moore, Mersk, Karen Power, Anthony Kelly and David Stalling, Kevin Tuohy, Jeff Weeter,... and myself.
Special guest us Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten and Crime and the City Solution. I am thrilled to bits as these are two groups I rank very highly. Hacke is an adventurous musical arranger and creative bass and guitar player.
The record was pressed on blue vinyl in a limited edition of 250 copies, housed in a gatefold sleeve, and with a digital download token. it will be available at a special price of 12 euros at the event.
This release is a collaboration of Cork Artists Collective, The Guesthouse and Farpoint Recordings. "This launch event and LP are dedicated to the memory of Tom Lawrence."
