Launch of "Tides: An ISSTA Anthology"

This Friday, ISSTA celebrates a rich history with the launch of Tides: An ISSTA Anthology. This collection of twenty-four artists represents a cross-section of activity in electronic and acousmatic music, soundscape composition, live performance, and sound installation.

The occasion is the ten year anniversary of the Irish Sound, Science and Technology Association. In 2011 ISSTA was founded at the University of Limerick, with Dr. Kerry Hagan as the first president. Over the past decade, ISSTA has hosted conferences and concerts across the island of Ireland. The lockdown hasn't stopped us. Last year we had a successful series of three online concerts that saw our community extend out beyond these borders.

I have contributed to each of these gatherings with papers, compositions, and organisation. In my current role as vice-president I am super excited for this weekend. So much work has gone into making this a reality.

The live stream premiere of Tides happens this Friday 23 July at 6pm (on YouTube). On Saturday at 6pm there will be a launch party featuring discussions with featured artists (on Zoom).

Visit issta.ie for more information on how you can sign up for both events via Eventbrite. It's all free.

The album will be available on Bandcamp through my record label, Stolen Mirror. I will talk about the process of putting this together at the launch party.

The album will be featured on SARC Radio later this summer. Further activities will be forthcoming.
